As of January 1, 2022, the No Surprises Act protects consumers from unexpected medical expenses. This law ensures that you have the right to know the cost of services before receiving them.

If you are uninsured or choosing not to use insurance, you are entitled to receive a Good Faith Estimate outlining the expected costs of services. This estimate will include therapy session fees and any related expenses.

What You Need to Know:

  • You will receive a Good Faith Estimate in writing at least one business day before your scheduled service.

  • You can request an estimate at any time, even before scheduling.

  • If your bill is $400 or more over the Good Faith Estimate, you have the right to dispute the charge.

Be sure to save a copy of your Good Faith Estimate for your records. For more details on your rights, visit www.cms.gov/nosurprises or call 615-988-4763.
